Look for jelly fish there. Back in 1989, myself and another dive bud discovered what appeared to be very small jellyfish hanging out in the weed beds. Since my buddy went to OSU, he decided to contact the biology professor and they sent a team to the quarry and sure enough, they found them. Fresh water jellyfish.

Thanks for sharing! We have reservations for Bahia Principe Luxury Akumal (our Honeymoon). Jan 15 2021. If you don't mind asking some questions. Was the whole resort open...or some venues closed for Covid. Did you enjoy the food and service, hotel accomodations. Thanks again. !
The entirety of Luxury Akumal was open, but the bahia principe grounds were huge. It’s connected to its 3 other sister properties like Grand Coba. They all share this hacienda area where there is shops and a casino, which was closed, so was the dolphins (really the only 2 things I was interested in that was closed). There was plenty to do at Luxury Akumal and cool excursions that you can do from resort. Food, service, and hotel accommodations were amazing. They had a limited capacity because of covid. It felt very personal but yet still felt like a decent amount of people to liven it up. You will have a great time!
